I came to Capella the year after I finished the landscape architecture program and wanted to supplement my theoretical knowledge with practical. My year at Capella really gave me what I was looking for, a very broad horticultural education, where you get to be outside and work with your body. At the same time, there is a very good balance between teacher-led and own study time, where you are given the opportunity to immerse yourself in what you want. My time at Capella was filled with wonderful people and has given me friendships I still carry with me today.
After Capella
Now, the season after my year at Capella, I have been given the opportunity to substitute as Head Gardener at Astrid Lindgren's Näs, a display garden adjacent to Astrid's childhood home. I work there with my partner whom I met at Capellagården. I am happy that the training at Capellagården gave me the opportunity to test all the aspects I do today at my workplace, such as tending to perennials, cultivation, mowing and so much more.
My advice to future students
Take advantage of your time at Capellagården, be present and participate in what happens at the school. Also take advantage of the chance to live on Öland for a year, discover the island and its nature.
