"The first year was a really good basic education with knowledgeable teachers. There were many samples but also a lot of finished products. I also practiced at a textile printing company.
We received impulses and fun tasks from inspiring guest teachers. I think it was good that we often had to work weekly with a special theme.
During the second year I worked on decorating a room with textiles. Then I had great use of the knowledge from the first year.
I made, among other things, a felted carpet, printed patterns, woven blinds, furniture fabric and a patchwork, in the project I also collaborated with students at Möbelutb who made a folding wall and stool according to my design. It was very educational and fun to plan and push through your own ideas into a finished product.
The atmosphere at the school was special with morning assembly, a wonderful garden, many workshops, good food and a mix of different orientations, people and cultures. I felt that you could really influence the teaching according to your own wishes, especially in year two.
Living at the school and the opportunity it gives to work a lot and at the same time be served with food I thought was fantastic!
After Capella…
I studied at HDK and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Textile Art in 2001.
Tried to sell pattern design and make my way as an artist which was quite difficult.
Today I work as an art weaver at Märta Måås AB in Båstad, have also designed some rag rugs for MMF.
When I look back on all my education, Capellagården is the one I remember most warmly. I had the best time there in every way!
My advice to future students:
Use time wisely. You have every opportunity and keep your dreams alive!”
