My years at Capella were filled with creative energy. After taking a bachelor's degree in human ecology, there was a great longing in me to work with my hands and close to the materials. I couldn't have ended up in a better place to explore this than the Textile Department at Capellagården. Being able to combine the theoretical knowledge I had with me from before with the craft was incredibly fun and developing.

After Capella…?

After my years at Capella, I started the master's program Craft! at Konstfack in Stockholm.

My master's project explores ecological sustainability in the textile industry through plant dyeing and weaving. The education is similar to Capella in many ways; students with different experiences with materials and with widely different craft traditions who work side by side to discuss and investigate the role of craft in today's society. The technical skill and material knowledge that I have gained from Capella has been absolutely crucial in being able to pursue my whims and ideas.

My advice to future textile students?

Talk openly with your teachers and fellow students! The value of having a common place and workshop provides so much knowledge and inspiration - a context that is difficult to find again.
