"When I came to Capellagården, I had attended a folk high school for a year and absolutely wanted to continue learning about different textile techniques. I was saved by weaving and enjoyed the fact that the workshops were so accessible. It was possible to work around the clock and at any time, which suits me well when the focus comes and goes. The mix of different courses and own time to test ideas worked well for me. Although I mostly wanted to weave, I took a lot of other things with me that I still have use for. Most important was the opportunity for that total focus in the craft. It planted something in me that I still develop and use in my artistic practice today. I remember that it felt so luxurious with all the different workshops and that most things were possible to do, by yourself or with a little help from another student or teacher. It gave me security in doing things and a freedom to have so much knowledge.

After Capella…

I continued for two years at Handarbetets Vänner and in the spring of 2020 I will be in the last semester of the master's program in arts and crafts (CRAFT) at Konstfack. I think I have managed quite a lot since I left Capella. Among other things, I have worked in collaborative projects with other artists.
Together with Shogo Hirata, who I got to know at Capella, since 2016 I have run the project Intertradition where we researched textile craft traditions in Sweden and Japan and based on them inspired our own interpretations. Today I also work with an exhibition platform for artisans under the name Dotdotdot.

My advice to future students

To those of you who are considering studying at Capellagården, I would say; Reflect on the location and the possibilities of the workshops and find the way of working that works best for you. Capellagården is an incredibly accessible place and you hardly get more time for focused work anywhere else, so make the most of your time!”
