“I left my job as a graphic designer in Japan to study textiles from scratch. I had a desire to work with clothes but to first start from the material and the craftsmanship behind it. The years at Capella were a turning point for me as a creator and my own way of thinking.

After Capella…

I moved to Gothenburg to do an internship as a designer at a fashion company. At the same time, I started working as a textile artist with a focus on creating personal, tailored clothing items and fiber art. Reuse and traditional craftsmanship became a big part of my projects. Among other things I did an exchange project, Intertradition together with Lisa Juntunen Roos (former Capella student) 2016-2018. A craft project where the aim was to combine the craft cultures of two countries through Japanese traditional kasuri (ikat) weaving. Currently working as a textile artist and freelance graphic designer. In recent years, I have experimented with natural dyeing and, among other things, am doing an on-going exchange project with a Japanese natural dyeing master. Have also become a parent, so spend a lot of time with the family.

My advice to future students

You will have time to deeply find yourself. Capellagården and its surroundings have something that cannot be found elsewhere, it is still a special place for me. Good luck!"
