Ceramics in the garden

Course leader: Maria Zetterstrand. Course fee: SEK 4800

With Capellagården's beautiful garden as a starting point, we create with clay. The clay is unique in that it is soft, malleable, tactile and can adopt different structures, both organic and symmetrical. The focus will be a creative exploration of the garden and what we can add to it and how it can inspire us to create with clay. We will stay in the pottery workshop but also in the garden. The course is for you who have previously worked with clay and feel that you have a grasp of basic techniques. We will not burn. Above all, we immerse ourselves in the possibilities, expression and process of clay. Most of the course will be practical, but there will also be some theoretical elements. See the course as an opportunity to create in total presence with clay based on the garden's rooms, vegetation and inhabitants.

Maria Zetterstrand

has studied at Capellagården and has a Master in Fine Arts from Ceramics and Glass at Konstfack. She has a background as a potter where she made utility items for, among others, Norrgavel, Malmstens butiken, ROOM, but in recent years she has mainly devoted herself to unique things that have been shown at exhibitions. Her business is based in a studio on Södermalm in Stockholm. Maria's creation often carries a dreamlike presence, an echo of a repetitive everyday life. With ceramic installations, she explores nature and the relationship of things to humans. Maria has also trained in the world of vegetation as a gardener and taught color and form at YH in Enköping.
