Our summer courses

A summer course at Capellagården can be a challenge and provide life-changing inspiration for future path choices. Practical knowledge, artistic training and enriching community go hand in hand. Capellagården has become a concept, a meeting place for craft and culture-interested people from Sweden and the world. We explore different materials and get to know their different beauty values. You get to work in different techniques and seek experiences in the meeting between technology and materials and get to experience how your own personality seeks expression through the hand, eye and thought. Our course leaders are experienced craftsmen and artists who also share their own work through lectures and the like. With a few exceptions, the courses require no prior knowledge and you are welcome to apply regardless of age or nationality (see further under the heading language). As a boarding student with full board in a beautiful and relaxing environment, you can fully devote yourself to your chosen craft or subject.

Ceramics in the garden

Course leader: Maria Zetterstrand. Course fee: SEK 4800

With Capellagården's beautiful garden as a starting point, we create with clay. The clay is unique in that it is soft, malleable, tactile and can adopt different structures, both organic and symmetrical. The focus will be a creative exploration of the garden and what we can add to it and how it can inspire us to create with clay. We will stay in the pottery workshop but also in the garden. The course is for you who have previously worked with clay and feel that you have a grasp of basic techniques. We will not burn. Above all, we immerse ourselves in the possibilities, expression and process of clay. Most of the course will be practical, but there will also be some theoretical elements. See the course as an opportunity to create in total presence with clay based on the garden's rooms, vegetation and inhabitants.

Application and admission

We apply continuous admission. The selection/admission to the course is based on your motivation in the application and the desire to have a spread in the group. General courses require no prerequisites. Continuing courses have prerequisites, which are printed in the course description. You can see which courses are searchable by clicking on the application form. When a course has enough applicants to fill the course places and the reserve list, we close the possibility to apply for the course. We will contact you regularly with information about admission during the application period and no later than March 15. That is, the time it takes to receive notification can vary. Notification is sent via email. If you are accepted, you will receive information about further payment of the course fee. In case of non-payment, the place is offered to other applicants. If you are accepted, you are offered to book and pay for accommodation during the course week. Read more about accommodation under the following headings. Applicants must be 18 years of age, except for children/youth courses.
