Color – a world full of color

A warm welcome to a week with a focus on colour! Here, the color can stand for itself. The course is aimed at those who want to develop their work with color; private or professional. In a playful way, we explore colors and shades here. For a few days, we will have the opportunity to dive deep into color theory and color setting together. We start with practical work mixing colors with gouache on paper, to practice finding different shades. The participants can reflect together on the moods of colours, combine and examine how colors change and are experienced in different light. Based on Capellagården's beautiful surroundings and color palette, we investigate and develop our knowledge of color. The method we use is based on an intuitive and playful exploration. Practicing mixing colors and shades gives a refined look at how they are experienced and affect us. Interspersed with practical exercises, we also immerse ourselves in color from several perspectives - artistically, philosophically, culturally, biologically. The course gives you the desire and courage to use more color in your everyday life, something that is useful in most creative professions. There are no performance requirements here – the starting point is curiosity and being present in the creation. We will alternate joint reviews of various elements and tasks with independent work under supervision. You will have the opportunity to work with your own creation in focus, the course challenges you at exactly the level you are at.
Course fee
The course fee is SEK 4,800. The course takes place in collaboration with the Authority for Vocational College, Art and Culture, which means that the course fee can be kept lower than other courses. If Capellagården has to cancel the course, you always have the right to get back the course fee you have paid. If you need to withdraw your offer due to obstacles or illness, a refund will be made with 50% of the course fee. Please note that board and lodging are not included in the course fee, but are booked and paid for separately after admission.
Application and admission
No previous knowledge required. You who apply must be 18 years old, except for the children/youth courses.

Board and lodging
Unfortunately, our boarding school is now fully booked. As a course participant, however, it is fine to eat together with your course mates. The price for single meals is then: Breakfast SEK 85, Lunch or dinner SEK 125, Cheese tray (end) SEK 155. Coffee and shared coffee are included in the course fee
Bring to the course
You need to have gouache paint with you, for example Winsor & Newton, Designers Gouache Intro Set which is a good base. A basic set of brushes is also needed, for example a few round and a couple of flat watercolor brushes in different sizes. Paper, at least 200g paper, for watercolor or mixed media. Palette to mix colors in. Masking tape.
Some basic material is on site, but it is an advantage that you have your own material for use both on the course and at home.
Course start and end
On the day the course starts, the arrival time is from 3 p.m. At At 17.00 a simple dinner is served and at 18.00 there is a joint start with your course. The course ends on Friday with a joint closing evening. On Saturday, breakfast is served and check-out is at 11.00 at the latest.
Language
The language of instruction on the course is Swedish. However, summaries in English may appear.
