Pattern with color - Create patterns with nature's pigments *
29 June – 12 July 2025
Course leader: Linda Zetterman
Welcome to a deep dive into nature's beautiful color palette! During the course, we work with several natural dyeing methods in combination with different patterning techniques. We use plant pigments from our own color plants and collect material in the wild. You will learn several different shibori techniques, where by folding, pressing and sewing, you reserve different surfaces and create unique patterns. You can also try clay reservation which is applied through printing and painting, as well as ecoprint or so-called. bundle dye where pigment and form from the plants are transferred to fabric through heat and pressure. The different course elements will give you knowledge about different textile materials and principles for natural dyeing with a focus on sustainability. During the first week of the course, we go through the various methods and during the second week you have the opportunity to delve deeper into optional techniques. We are based in Capellagården's fine printing workshop with the possibility to work both indoors and outdoors if the weather permits. You are welcome to read more about the color plant project "From seed to color" at lindazetterman.se.
