Shrink can for small and large hands
Part of Capellagården's summer course program is aimed at children who want to take a creative course together with an adult security person. A security person can be a parent, mother/grandparent or other important adult in the child's life.
The course is aimed at both children and adults. The child's process is in focus and the adult participates in the course on the child's terms. The courses run over two days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with common breaks for coffee and lunch. Lunch, light refreshments and materials are included in the course fee. What we create, we get to take home with us, of course. Below you can take part in the various courses, read more about the course content and the recommended age for each course.
You register yourself and the child via the form. We have rolling admissions and apply the principle on a first-come, first-served basis. Each course has room for 10 children and 10 adults. Accommodation at Capellagården cannot be booked for these courses.
Shrink can for small and large hands. Short course for children and adult security personnel, 30-31 July.
Course fee: SEK 2,600 for a child and an adult. Recommended age of the child is 10 to 16 years. VIf the offer is canceled due to obstacles or illness, a refund is made with 50% of the course fee.
This course is created to promote creativity and community between generations. For two days we will explore the basics of knife craft where we learn and create together. We will dive into the world of craftsmanship and test different craftsmanship, knowledge of fresh wood and safe handling of sharp tools. Briefings will be interspersed with practical work, where each participant receives individual guidance and space for personal creation. The focus will be on the creation of a "shrink jar", which is an inspiring and challenging project for both children and adults, regardless of previous experience in crafts.
Course leaders: Sebastian Engström and Henrik Johansson
Sebastian Engström has his foundation in furniture carpentry and is educated at St Eriks Gymnasium and Capellagården, where he received his journeyman's certificate in 2023. Despite his strong foundation in furniture carpentry, the craft is constantly present and is significant in his creation and design.
Henrik Johansson has been carpentry since childhood, but took a detour via office work before he trained as a cabinetmaker with a journeyman's certificate at Capellagården. Today he runs his own business in Malmö but still has a foot in Småland and returns to Capellagården at regular intervals.
