Carve a ribbon gate - weave a ribbon

Course leader: Kerstin Neumüller

Welcome to dive deep into the world of crafts for two weeks during the course Carve a ribbon gate - weave a ribbon! Here, tool making is combined with craft creation. During the first week of the course, you will learn how to produce wooden blanks for band gate carving as well as to carve band gates, the tool that is then used to weave your band. You decorate the band gate with cut patterns and paint that you mix from milk protein and lime. We also go through knife sharpening on an electric whetstone and how to sharpen knives on the water sharpener. The second week we will weave on ribbon gates and try patterned grosgrain ribbons, balanced tuft weaving, weft grosgrain techniques and weaving ribbons with picked patterns.
