Carving with knife and axe* application closed
22 June – 28 June 2025
Course leaders: Moa Brännström and Hannes Dalroth
Welcome to a week of crafting with a knife and an axe! During the course, we will dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to wood and cutting tools. Among other things, we learn basic ax technique for safe processing of wood, the most common carving grips, what you should consider when working in fresh wood, and an introduction to how to keep your tools sharp. We start the course together and work step by step. Further on, you will receive instructions on how to carve something that you have been wanting for a long time. A perfect course for those of you who want to get away from the screen, slim down on plastic among your kitchen utensils or just give yourself an opportunity to give your full focus to a knife and a piece of wood for a week! You don't need a complete workshop to be able to create in wood, but you can go a long way with a few tools and a little knowledge.
Course fee
The course fee is SEK 5100
The course takes place in collaboration with the Authority for Vocational College, Art and Culture, which means that the course fee can be kept lower than other courses.
If Capellagården has to cancel the course, you always have the right to get back the course fee you have paid. If you need to withdraw your offer due to obstacles or illness, a refund will be made with 50% of the course fee.
Please note that board and lodging are not included in the course fee, but are booked and paid for separately after admission. Material costs for individual works may be added and paid on site.

How is the selection of course participants done?
We apply continuous admission. When a course has enough applicants to fill course and reserve places, we close the possibility to apply for the course. Some courses quickly receive a large number of applicants. The selection for the course is based on your motivation in the application and the desire to have a spread in the group.
When will I receive a response to my application?
We will provide feedback on an ongoing basis. That is, the time it takes to receive notification can vary. Notification is sent via email. The first e-mails with notifications will be tentatively sent out during the month of February. Upon admission, information is given about payment and confirmation of course place. In case of non-payment, we offer the course place to the next person in line. In connection with admission, it is possible to book and pay for board and lodging.
Why is there a delay in answering my question?
Send your questions and concerns to sommarkurser@capellagarden.se. We will reply as soon as we can, so please be patient if it takes a few days.
